British Embassy Party
The club had annual gathering 2007 on the 3rd of February in New Hall of the British Embassy. It was valuable and successful with 84 participants. Professor John Pickstone and Professor Michael Luger gave lectures titled "Science, technology and medicine in the history of Manchester" and "The Role of Business Schools in the 21st Century", respectively. Dr. Aya Homei read a message from Professor Alistair Ulph, vice-president and Dean, Faculty of Humanities, the University of Manchester. The message was that the University established Japanese Studies as an area of academic study. All the members were encouraged by the lectures and the message to strengthen the relationship between Manchester and Japan. The party after the lectures was enjoyable. Dr. Hiroshi Matsumoto gave a speech and KAMPAI. Dr. Taeko Seki, the president of the Alumni Association of the University of Stirling, kindly joined the lectures and the party to strengthen the collaboration with us. Professor Takahiko Kunho talked about the history of the Greater Manchester Club and presented gifts to the two professors as gratitude to the lectures. Mr. Yutaka Toda proposed to transfer the role of chairman to Dr. Katsura Kawakami and all the participants approved that. Mr. Yoji Hirasawa and Mr. Tetsuo Iida were assigned as vice-chairmen, and Ms Takako Kasai as the secretary. Club members may access over 150 photos taken at the party by logging in here.
